The East Bay Coalition for the Homeless is the only agency in the East Bay of Rhode Island providing housing for homeless families with children.

Sometimes people need help getting back on their feet because of a lay off, illness, family break-up, domestic violence or lack of income. To give them time and a safe-space to get back on their feet and accomplish their goals, the Coalition operates twelve transitional housing units in East Providence, Warren and Bristol.

Homeless families apply for the program, which includes shelter for up to two years together with comprehensive wrap-around services. Each family works with a case manager to establish short and long term goals. Services include, but are not limited to case management, life skills counseling, education, job training, food and nutrition counseling, as well as medical and mental health referrals and day care programs.
Living in poverty can have a long-term impact on children resulting in health problems, learning disabilities as well as emotional problems. Case management and supportive services are the cornerstones to every family’s success in the EBCH program. We work with each family to give them the support and services they need to be self-sufficient and to help break the cycles of poverty and homelessness.

Our work is vital to empowering people to cross the bridge to self-reliance.
